His mother swatted him on the head and said, Dont hit. Its not nice. Moms must be right, but sometimes they can be very difficult to understand. In An Outcast Life, an eleven-year-old boy becomes very confused by his mothers counsel to just ignore being viciously bullied. He is small for his age, shy, and very much a loner. He suffers the bullying for a couple years after begging his parents to intervene. When they wont, he decides to fight back only to find that standing up for himself makes him the bully in everyone elses eyes. In the end, learning to ignore it may have been the best advice.
